Helen Ovans hikes/runs from Coniston to Barrow for 25 for 25 Give Back initiative

Proclaim Group News Article

On 9th May 2026, Helen Ovans, Head of Proclaim Care, swapped strategy meetings for steep climbs as she took on an incredible 21.5-mile walk/jog from Coniston to Barrow.

The famous event has been bringing people together since the 1960s, when a challenge inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s belief in long-distance walking evolved into what is now one of Cumbria’s most iconic fundraising events.

For Helen, the challenge was about much more than the miles. Joining thousands of participants representing local and national charities, she tackled the demanding Cumbrian route with her characteristic determination and positivity.

Reflecting on the day, Helen said: “It was an amazing day with so many local and national charities represented. I had forgotten how hilly Cumbria is compared to Yorkshire!”

We suspect “a little hilly” may be a slight understatement when you’re 20 miles in and facing yet another Cumbrian climb.

Those who know Helen will recognise the qualities that carried her through the challenge: resilience, commitment and a refusal to back down when things get tough. Whether she’s supporting our teams, driving excellence across Proclaim Care, or taking on 21.5 miles of hills, she gives it everything she has.

We’re incredibly proud of Helen for representing Proclaim Group, supporting charitable causes and proving that great leadership sometimes means rolling up your sleeves, lacing up your trainers and tackling the uphill sections head-on.

A huge congratulations and thank you to Helen on a fantastic achievement. After all, if you can conquer 21.5 miles of Cumbrian hills and still call it “an amazing day”, you can probably handle just about anything.
